November – A month of gratitude and reflection

November is not only the anniversary of Rhode Races, but also the proverbial end of our racing season. This year we produced a record number of events at 18 total races. We also had a record number of participants (I don’t have this exact number, I just know it was more!) But this means we […]
Wine Run Preview

We typically do a race preview blog in advance of each race, but the Wine Run is a unique event for us – less competitive and more fun! Plus – if you know me at all, I love wine and running like I love peanut butter and jelly. They are all something that are part […]
Summer Running Had Me A Blast (not)

Tips for running in the summer from someone that hates it 😉 I know there are many that either love running in the heat and humidity, or can tolerate it pretty well, but I am not one of them. I LOATHE it – I melt like butter. I have said many times that I would […]
Independence Rhode Race Preview

We have started this series where we give a quick overview as to what to expect on race day. With our summer classic THIS month – the Independence Rhode Race – we wanted to take some time here to focus on this event. This half marathon originated in 2015 as part of the famous Bristol […]
Rhode Races: Race Amenities

As small female-owned company, our mission includes trying to treat our participants like they are guests to our home. April = Earth Month and Newport Rhode Races. Racing towards Carbon Neutral.

It always resonates with us that April is not just Earth Month but also our first race of the season. We have spent the off-season working on our sustainability goals for this race season and with Newport being our first race of the year and in April – it all just seems to go hand […]
Grab your BRF and join our new RELAY option in Bristol

We are so excited to announce that we are adding a 2-person relay option for the Independence Rhode Race! We know that this race has historically had some humidity and that for some, humidity and a half marathon does not make for the most fun race conditions. It does cause some hurdles to joining us for this holiday classic that kicks off the 4th of July Celebration in Bristol. By splitting the distance, not only is the event more accessible for more runners, but it adds a fun new team-atmosphere to the race!
Labor of Love

Running and Racing – A Labor of Love.
GPS vs USATF-certified Courses – the Evolution of the Running Watch

Running and road racing has evolved so much since my start in 1987, in so different categories. I still have one of the Nike Pegasus shoes that were given to us as members of the URI Track and Field team and I think most modern runners would be shocked to see what a Division 1 […]
