Newport Rhode Races named Best Half Marathon in Rhode Island by RaceRaves

Newport, RI April 30, 2024 – The runners have spoken, and Newport Rhode Races has been named the top half marathon in Rhode Island.

RaceRaves, the nation’s premier online race finder and reviews community for runners and endurance athletes, has announced the winners of its 2024 “Runners Choice: Best Half Marathons in the U.S.” poll. The top half marathon in each state was crowned based on nearly 20,000 votes from runners across the country along with finisher ratings and reviews on RaceRaves.com.

The authoritative new guide will help novice and seasoned runners alike build their all-star half marathon wish list.

Common themes among the winning events include exceptional production and race-day support, strong community involvement, and a half marathon course that showcases the distinctive beauty, charm and character of the local region.

“This race has a relatively short history so we feel incredibly humbled to have been awarded this honor.” – states Susan Rancourt, co-founder of Rhode Races. “The race has grown so much since 2017 so we are excited to bring this beautiful daffodil-filled event to so many new and experienced runners. It truly is a beautiful time of year in Rhode Island and a great season to run. Thank you to everyone who voted.”

The most popular of the four events owned by Rhode Races & Events is a “breathtakingly gorgeous” circuit of the City by the Sea. Starting and finishing at Easton’s Beach, the challenging course treats its runners to a “stunning beautiful” tour of the rocky and rolling coastline highlighted by seaside cliffs, sublime ocean views, and Gilded Age mansions such as The Breakers, which was once owned by the Vanderbilt family and is now the city’s most visited landmark. As a beguiling bonus, race day (aka the dash through the daffodils) coincides with Newport Daffodil Days, an annual festival that celebrates the springtime bloom of more than 1.2 million of these flowers throughout the Newport area. 🌼

“The ‘Best Half Marathons in the U.S.’ initiative exemplifies our passion for the sport and our commitment to helping runners discover the best races across the country,” said RaceRaves Co-founder Mike Sohaskey. “We’re thrilled by the tremendous response from runners nationwide and congratulate Rhode Races on this well-deserved accolade.”

Registration is not yet open for the 2025 event, which is being planned for April 19, 2025, welcoming all runners with distances from the 5k to full marathon.

The complete list of winning half marathons, by state and by month, plus a profile of each is available on RaceRaves.com.
