Hi Rhode Races Community – I’m Courtney, the new Director of Communications here at Rhode Races. With the 10th anniversary of Rhode Races taking place this year and the organization continuing to grow and thrive, I was brought on to help the team bring everything from behind the scenes to front and center.
What does that mean?
Well, in addition to answering your questions about registrations, merch, and fundraising (and anything else you want to ask!), I’m helping to tell the stories behind our races, our runners, our partners, and – of course – the incredible places we get to experience here in Rhode Island.
And honestly? This role feels like a perfect overlap of everything I love: running, storytelling, community, and Rhode Island pride.
While we’re on the note of RI-pride, in the spirit of full disclosure I’m technically not a Rhode Islander. I live just over the border in Massachusetts but my entire family lives in little Rhody, so I like to think I’m an honorary resident.
And as far as running goes – it’s been part of my life for years – for a while competitively, but now very casually (and, let’s be honest, for helping me keep my sanity). Like many of you, my relationship with running has evolved through different seasons of life: chasing PRs, training through busy schedules, returning after injury or burnout, and learning to appreciate the miles.
As part of the Rhode Races team, I’ll be helping shape and share content across our blog, email, and social channels. You can expect to see things like:
- Race previews and behind-the-scenes looks
- Training tips and runner resources
- Spotlights on runners, partners, and local communities
- Event updates, inspiration, and maybe a little humor along the way
Overall, my goal is simple: to build upon the foundation that Karen, Susan, and the team have built that makes Rhode Races the most welcoming, beautiful, and impactful events in Rhode Island – whether you’re lining up on race day or following along from afar.
I can’t wait to see you all race day – I’ll be cheering each and every one of you on! And if there’s content you’d love to see more of, don’t be shy about letting me know.
Happy training,
Courtney
